Lymphoma Workshop

¡@¡@Hong
Kong Blood Cancer Foundation organized a workshop for lymphoma patients on
22 November, attracting about 200 audiences. AFTC Sports Physiotherapist Ms.
Carmen Yeung was invited to hold the exercise demonstration session during
the event. She talked about the benefits of doing exercises, had a good
exercise workout with the audience!
Press Conference of
South China Football Team

¡@¡@The
South China Football Team held a press conference at Peninsula Hotel on 1
Sept 2008. This is the 100th Anniversary of the team in 08/09 season, and it
is the second year for AFTC to be the sponsor and official partner with the
team. After the revision with the coach, we will continue to work as a team
with a closer connection and better cooperation, to offer a more
comprehensive professional service, enhancing their professional ability.
Accredited Trainer 6th Training

¡@¡@Recently,
we held the 6th training for the AFTC Accredited trainer on 13 November.
This not only enhance their professional knowledge, but also offer a good
chance for them to share their experience among themselves. The registered
dietitian Ms. Mylene Khoo was the speaker who talked about the updated
knowledge of sports nutrition and the integration of nutrition into fitness
training, which enhance their utilization of nutritional knowledge.
Preseason Screening and
Briefing session

¡@¡@In
Jul and Aug, we have done the preseason screening for all the SCAA players
in Division 1 team, assessed their physical fitness and old injury status in
order to provide the individualized and specialized training advice.
Moreover, we held a briefing session for the athletes on 20 Aug aim at
introducing AFTC service and educating them on the acute management of
sports injury. They showed good attention and were enthusiastic in
practising the ankle strapping technique.
Chinese Recreation Club ¡V Seminar for Tennis
Player

¡@¡@On
15 March 2008, our Sports Physiotherapy Consultant Mr. Terence Chau was
invited by the Chinese Recreation Club Hong Kong to give a talk named as
¡§Secret of Top Tennis Player¡¨ for their members. During the talk, the common
sports injuries that most tennis players encountered in their life was
discussed and the effective functional training and injury prevention were
shared with the audience.
Raleigh International
Mountain Marathon (RIMM) 2008

¡@¡@AFTC
was invited by the Raleigh International Hong Kong to provide on-field
physio service for the RIMM event on 15 & 16 March 2008. In addition to our
physiotherapy service in managing different conditions of participants, we
also had the sports masseurs to serve them so as to provide a more holistic
support for them to complete the event.
Accredited Trainer 5th Training

top trainers from different fitness clubs are selected to be the AFTC
Accredited Trainers (AT), and they are eligible to provide fitness training
to the clients of AFTC. The fifth official training for our Accredited
Trainer (AT) has been successfully held on 5 March, 2008. The theme was
¡§Common shoulder injuries in gym¡¨ and was conducted by our Sports
Physiotherapy Consultant, Mr. Terence Chau. All the ATs took this valuable
chance to share the knowledge and experience with our consultant, and they
also have a chance to know more functional trainings for shoulder.
Excellent turnout for the first-ever
AFTC Annual Seminar!

¡@¡@AFTC
held out very first Annual Seminar on September 29th at the Hong Kong
Central Library and received plenty of positive feedback. AFTC organizes
monthly public seminars to deucate the public on a wide range of topics.
On-field Sports Physiotherapy Service

¡@¡@In
October 2007, AFTC was invited by Raleigh International Hong Kong and Sowers
Action Education Development Program, to support the Raleigh Convoy
Challenge ¡V Wilson Trail 2007 and Sowers Action Challenging 12 Hours 2007
respectively. During the events, we provided on-field sports physiotherapy
service, and handled different sports injury conditions to support the
participants in completing their competitions.

Fitness Consultant of
South China Football Club

August 31st 2007, Asian Fitness Therapy Center (AFTC) was appointed
¡§Official Physiotherapy & Fitness Consultant¡¨ by the South China Athletic
Association (SCAA) Football Club at a press conference held at the Four
Seasons Hotel. In addition to providing on-field sports physiotherapy during
South China¡¦s football matches, AFTC will be providing players with
post-injury rehabilitation and fitness training advice.

Accredited Trainers receive regular training from the center on various
aspects of physiotherapy. This allows them to work closely with the center's
medical professionals and ensure their clients benefit from comprehensive
treatment and training programs. Personal Trainers with at least 3 or more
years of personal training or relevant experience may apply. For further

Establishment of Pilates studio

Pilates studio has been established since February 2007. It is equipped with
3 STOTT PILATES reformers and various Pilates props and accessories.
Raleigh International Mountain Marathon

¡@¡@AFTC
was invited by Raleigh International Hong Kong to provide on-field sports
physiotherapy service to Raleigh International Mountain Marathon (RIMM) on
17th & 18th March, 2007. The marathon is a 2-day-1-night mountaineering
competition with courses ranging from15 - 60km depending on the different
categories.

¡§Get Fit Stay Fit in Wanchai¡¨ Opening
Ceremony

Center Manager, Mr. Jacky Leung, and our physiotherapist, Mr. Alex Ho, were
invited by the Wanchai District Council and Methodist Center to deliver a
talk during the opening ceremony of ¡§Get Fit Stay Fit in Wanchai¡¨ on 4th
Nov, 2006.
Practical Session for Dietitians
(co-organized with HKDA)

¡@¡@After
the academic meeting for the HKDA, AFTC co-organized a practical session
with the Hong Kong Dietitians Association (HKDA). The session provided
dietitians with practical demonstrations and experience of the exercises
discussed during the Academic Meeting. All participants also participated in
a circuit training session with AFTC Manager, Mr. Jacky Leung, and all had a
good workout!
Police Athletic Club ¡V
Seminar on Running Sports Injuries

¡@¡@AFTC
Manager, Mr. Jacky Leung, was invited by the Police Athletic Club (PAC) to
deliver a speech on ¡¥Common Running Sports Injuries¡¦. The speech focused on
proper ways to deal with foot, knee and ankles injuries. Proper warm-up and
injury prevention exercises were also discussed during the seminar. Over 100
staff from the Hong Kong Police Force attended the seminar and all learned
how to ¡¥run without pain¡¦ after the seminar!
Academic Meeting of Hong Kong
Dietitians Association (HKDA)

¡@¡@AFTC
Manager, Mr. Jacky Leung, was invited by the Hong Kong Dietitians
Association (HKDA) to deliver a speech on ¡§Exercise Prescription for Special
Population¡¨ during their academic meeting. The meeting provided in-depth
analysis of the types of exercises suitable for patients with cardiovascular
diseases, diabetes and obesity. Over 100 dietitians came for the seminar and
all enjoyed the talk very much!
